Vessel Dry Docking, Repair, Inspection, and Environmental Compliance
Promethean General Contractors, LLC was awarded this 2023 contract by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to perform dry dock repairs and maintenance for the Towboats Kent and Bienville. The project involved critical structural and systems repairs, repainting, environmental remediation, and inspection—all executed in compliance with stringent federal safety and environmental protocols.
Project Execution:
A single dry dock was utilized to service both vessels sequentially. Kent entered first and remained until all structural repairs, cleaning, inspections, and deck-level painting were completed. Bienville then followed under the same protocol.
Certain technical scopes required execution under the oversight of specialized technical service representatives provided by Promethean General Contractors.
Safety & Environmental Compliance:
The Bienville is equipped with an automatic CO₂ fire suppression system. Promethean safely disconnected and reinstated the system in accordance with specifications.
Both vessels contain interior surfaces coated with lead-based paint. All work was performed in strict adherence to federal, state, and local regulations governing hazardous materials, including lead abatement protocols.
