Levee Slide Repairs, Environmental Protection
Promethean General Contractors, LLC was awarded this IDIQ contract by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 2017 to execute vital slide repairs along the West Atchafalaya Basin Protection Levee at multiple station locations (Sta. 3636+50, 3646+50, 3726+00, 3739+39). This work was essential in preserving the stability and effectiveness of a key flood protection system along the Atchafalaya River.
Scope of Work Highlights:
Environmental Compliance: Emphasized prevention of environmental pollution through measures protecting air, water, land, and wildlife.
Storm Water Management: Implemented and actively maintained a Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), including silt fencing, truck wash-down racks, and daily control monitoring.
Earthwork Operations: Included clearing and grubbing, excavation of existing levees, and management of contractor-furnished borrow material.
Levee Reconstruction: Construction of new levee embankments with compaction and material testing to meet specified grades and elevations.
Surface Restoration: Included stone surfacing of levee crowns, access roads, and ramps, followed by turf establishment on all completed sections for long-term erosion control.
